Discovering a world of learning and fun. Children teach us to be open-hearted, generous, and kind

Children are special, no matter where they live or what their social status says. They are the future, they are innocent, and entitled to develop in such a way that they reach their full potential. At AXON Soft, we aim to be the best we can be, and encourage children to enjoy their childhood.

For this, we continue our partnership with World Vision Romania and returned to the little, modest kindergarten from the countryside that we`ve also visited last year. The children greeted us with lots of songs and smiles and reminded the gifts that Santa sent them last Christmas through us, and the school supplies that made their school year a better one.

This year, 15 children from three villages embarked in the journey of their building strong friendships and developing skills such as confidence, curiosity, respect, and patience.

Worthy experience

Since last year, we`ve learned a lot from these wonderful children. We understood what it means to have hope when you don`t have coloring crayons, toys, books and nothing to help them create a special place where to explore, create and hope.

And this is where we came in. Just like last year, we`ve prepared for every little boy and girl bag packs filled with coloring books, crayons, sweets and toys, and also drawing block, watercolors, brushes, colored coated paper, notebooks, markers and everything they need. Nevertheless, we also offered them all sort of educational games, puzzles, building blocks, novel books and so on.

We hope that this way, we contributed a little to create a place where they feel encouraged by their amazing teacher and supported through play-based learning to grow into beautiful, educated children.

We thank our friends from World Vision Romania who helped us accomplish this activity and we are looking forward to seeing them again.

Codecamp Cluj, an intense event for the IT community

Codecamp has become one of the biggest IT events in Romania, and it`s the place where IT professionals share ideas and grow. Last Saturday, the community of IT professionals had the chance to pick between 59 talks regarding Java, .NET, PHP, JavaScript, Ruby, Mobile, Cloud, Agile development, Software Architecture, Business Analysis, Management, Product Development or entrepreneurship.

At AXON Soft, we`ve made a tradition in partnering up with Codecamp and be part of one of the biggest IT events which bring together people sharing the same passion for technology. This is the reason why Huxi Li, head of engineering at Holy-Dis, one of our strategic partners from France, held a presentation on Containerization as an Enterprise Architecture Strategy.

It was a great chance for developers to get more info on a hot topic, and exploring the container technology, cloud strategy, innovation agility, repeatable delivery and not only. Keeping in mind the number of participants and the questions that followed the session, we can say that even though we started talking about Containerization a few years ago, the subject remains an interesting hot topic for most professionals.

[Video] Hannover Messe, the world’s leading tradeshow for industrial technology

Hannover Messe, the world`s leading industrial show, is for sure a must for all decision-makers. We were impressed to be part of an event that integrated all key technologies and core areas of the industry – from research and development, industrial automation, IT, production technologies and services to energy or mobility technologies. During last week, we focused on all the synergies that the tradeshow offered.

An international tradeshow like Hannover Messe brings together technologies related to industrial transformation. It`s amazing to see how industrial technologies and core industry sectors are in one place. Every time when we attend such events, we are excited to see how technology drives further the industrial pioneers to tomorrow’s fascinating working environment. Moreover, we enjoy being a key partner for companies that want to accelerate their digital transformation.

For AXON Soft, Hannover Messe was another opportunity to exchange around cooperation possibilities with leading companies. We had five days filled with meetings focusing on exchanging groundbreaking ideas, identifying the latest market trends, and exploring new ways to overcome technological boundaries.

Facts and figures

Over 215.000 people visited the trade during the five days. As a record, the organizers announced that 40% of them were from abroad, and this proves that whoever wants to be part of the future, has to be at Hannover Messe.

The tradeshow brought together over 6.500 exhibitors from 75 countries. More than 500 application examples for groundbreaking Industrie 4.0 solutions and artificial intelligence were presented, while the key players proved how digital connection between man and machine works in the age of AI.

This year, the central themes were mobile standard 5G and autonomous systems, and the demonstrations were impressive. “The variety of examples for industrial use all at one place in a real 5G network is a world premiere“, states Jochen Kockler, CEO Deutsche Messe AG.

Are you ready for your First Step Internship Program?

Our First Step Internship Program is, as usually, dedicated to empowering the young talents to develop their skills alongside our great professionals. In the last couple of days, we had the chance to meet hundreds of passionate students, eager to take a step forward in their careers. We got to talk with wonderful people at TdC in IT and at FSEGA, at Cariere in IT.

Every spring brings us the amazing opportunity to meet with our future colleagues during the career fairs organized. Every time we expect to see what young people are dreaming and what expectations they have, and each year we are impressed with their way of thinking. We were glad to see that students are asking more and more questions about our projects, our way of doing business and about our culture. For us, it`s important to see that they want to know how we work and interact with each other, and not just to complete their mandatory summer practice.

JAVA EE Technologies Internship

Since 2008 we have been partners for universities and developed summer internship programs for students that want to complete their theoretical knowledge with practical skills. This year, our First Step Internship Program is designed to offer the opportunity to experience the real workflow of a project team and create an application designed for this purpose.

Our intern team will consist of 10 dedicated and curious students, who want professional and pleasant work experience in software development. They will get to work with Java EE Technologies, Web Technologies, Design and architectural patterns, and Continuous integration.

We congratulate all the students that showed interest in learning more about our work through ambition and passion. [VIDEO] MWC19, the place for intelligent connectivity and technologies that will shape our future

AXON Soft took part, for the first time, in MWC Barcelona, the mobile industry’s premier event. The event was visited by more than 109,000 people from 198 countries and territories. AXON Soft is proud to have been selected to showcase the latest technology, products, and services across Fira Gran Via conference center.

The official numbers show that over 55% of this year’s MWC attendees held senior-level positions, including more than 7,900 CEOs. During last week, all the attendees explored the era of Intelligent Connectivity across 120,000 net square meters of exhibition space. The event consisted of an amazing combination of high-speed 5G networks, Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence.

During the four days of exhibition, visitors had the opportunity to experience demonstrations across a range of sectors including entertainment, transportation, and robotics from the biggest names in the industry, such as ARM, Google, Microsoft, Rakuten, Vimeo, Intel, and from every company who has a word about the future.

It was an intense mix of many significant industry announcements held under the umbrella of “Intelligent Connectivity” that marked the beginning of a new era, defined by highly contextualized and personalized experiences.

The future of innovation

For AXON Soft, MWC19 has been the best opportunity to promote our services and products, as well as an excellent opportunity to meet future partners and establish together the technological innovations we will be using. We are convinced that the core themes around which MWC focused their content already started to shape the future of our industry and our world as we know it.

Leadership in the Industry 4.0 era

The Fourth Industrial Revolution brings opportunities across nearly every segment of the economy, from medical to energy, logistics and beyond. While leaders begin to recognize the many dimensions involved, many seniors executives are not completely prepared for Industry 4.0. A survey conducted by Deloitte reveals what sets apart the most effective leaders.

Deloitte`s survey, which covered more than 2.000 C-suite executives across 19 countries, shows how leaders move forward in The Fourth Industrial Revolution, and where they are making the most progress.

In the last couple of years, the interest in social impact raised and it became, in many cases, a buzzword. The good news is that the survey mentions that leaders rated “societal impact” as the most important factor when evaluating their organizations’ annual performance, ahead of financial performance and customer or employee satisfaction. Even so, only half of the respondents believe that this type of initiative can generate profit.

Another key point in preparing for Industry 4.0 is to develop effective strategies. Most of the executives admit that they struggle to do so, especially since the markets are changing faster than ever. According to the survey, their abilities to develop and share knowledge to determine effective strategies are limited. Also, the survey shows they focus on protecting their positions rather than make bold investments to drive disruption.

Through the many dimensions that the Fourth Industrial Revolution brings we can include social implication, clear vision, and collaborative organizations, investing in technology for the short term, and addressing the talent gap. The research shows four types of leaders that are making the most progress and identified what sets them apart.

Social Supers

This type of leadership is based on social initiatives. Some leaders have figured out how to generate revenue by doing good and changing products and services to be more socially or environmentally conscious. “Social Supers believe societal initiatives, more often than not, contribute to profitability and those initiatives are fundamental to their business models. Social Supers also exhibit greater rigor around decision-making and believe their workforces are ready for the Fourth Industrial Revolution”, is shown in the survey.

Data-Driven Decisives

Some executives are far more likely to lead their organizations in capitalizing on the opportunities associated with The Fourth Revolution Industry. “Data-Driven Decisives are also more likely to invest in disruptive technologies, to be concerned about the ethical use of new tech, and to train their current employees to access the skills required for Industry 4.0″, according to Deloitte.
Disruption Drivers
The Disruption Drivers are the ones who invest in technologies to upend their markets and competitors, but also invest in technology that has achieved or exceeded their intended business outcomes. “These leaders are more confident they can lead in the Industry 4.0 era (45 percent versus 32 percent) and more assured their organizations are prepared to capitalize on the opportunities associated with Industry 4.0, and they take a more holistic approach to decision-making”.

Talent Champions

As suggested by the title, this type of leadership refers to executives that are more prepared for the future than the rest of the field. They have the proper workforce, they train their employees for the future of work, and know which skill sets their companies needs. “About two-thirds have been able to generate new revenue streams through socially driven initiatives, versus half of all others surveyed”.
This research shows that leaders with these characteristics stand apart from the crowd. They are sharing a commitment to doing good, with a clear vision of the path forward. According to Deloitte, the good part is that these type of leaders are contagious, so we can expect that the number of executives with such behaviors will grow.

[Video] Letters to Santa. AXON Soft team fulfilled children`s wishes from a forgotten kindergarten

While most of the time we try to write the best code possible, every once in a while we take a break and recharge ourselves. This week we had the best reason to leave the crowded city – to grant magical wishes and enrich the lives of children from Ticu village.

Children’s wishes are so creative and inspiring that it`s impossible to keep up with them. This year, we worked together with World Vision Romania foundation in their “Letters to Santa” campaign. After the amazing experience from September, we were determined to become Santa`s helpers for the same children. They wrote letters to Santa Claus and, because they are such good kids, we did our best to fulfill their wishes.

Caroling with our little friends

Just like in many other villages from the countryside, in Ticu people are facing the lack of jobs, while their children need to understand that Santa will not visit them. Because of the shortcomings, for these children, the holidays go unnoticed most of the times. But not this year! This year, each member from AXON Soft team got involved and made this Christmas special for them.

With dozens of gifts, lots of clothes, toys, and sweets, we packed ourselves and went to Ticu. Happy and curious, the children were waiting for us with lots of smiles, songs, and carols. They let us in their little world and showed us what happiness is all about. Together, we laughed, sang and opened gifts.

Helping people less fortunate

For our team, this event was a great way to feel the Christmas spirit and we are thankful to our friends from World Vision Romania who helped us accomplish this activity. Technology Trends. What to expect from 2019

Gartner, the world’s leading research and advisory company, identified the top strategic technology trends for the year ahead. These trends refer to the ones with innovative potential that will make a difference in the next years and will change the IT industry as we know it.

Autonomous Things

The top technology trend highlighted by Gartner refers to “Autonomous Things”. Robots, drones and autonomous vehicles are performing better and better thanks to the “brain” provided by AI. As this technology is improving, with multiple devices working together, either independently of people or with human input, according to David Cearley, vice president, and Gartner Fellow. In 2019 we expect to see a bigger range of autonomous capabilities, autonomous, intelligent and coordinated physical and virtual things.

Augmented Analytics

Another trend is “Augmented Analytics”, understood as the use of machine learning to transform how analytics content is developed, consumed, and shared. According to Gartner, the augmented analytics will advance through mainstream adoption in 2019.

Augmented Analytics will optimize decisions and actions of all employees within their context, not just those of analysts and data scientists. Through 2020, Gartner says the number of citizen data scientists will grow five times faster than the number of expert data scientists.

AI-Driven Development

The Augmented Developer and the Automated Developer is expected to operate alone using predefined models delivered as a service. By 2022, Gartner predicts that 40% of new application development projects will include AI co-developers in the development team.

Digital Twins

Digital twins, or digital representations of real-world entities or systems, has been a growing trend due to the explosion of IoT. According to Gartner, in the next two years, there will be more than 20 billion connected sensors and endpoints and digital twins will exist for potentially billions of things. Digital twins will help drive efficiencies in business processes, as well as create more flexible, dynamic and responsive processes that can potentially react to changing conditions automatically.

Empowered Edge

The fifth trend refers to edge computing and cloud computing as complementary concepts, in which information processing, and content collection and delivery, are placed closer to these endpoints. The empower edge also refers to exploiting advanced capabilities at the edge and communicating to the edge, since the 5G matures.

Immersive Experience

The sixth trend, Immersive Experience, is all about how humans interact with the digital world. How we perceive the digital world is changing, is all about VR and AR, and how it can help increase productivity. It`s also about how we interact with the digital world – smart speakers, chatbots, and things like this, creating customer service agents and not only. This combined shift will lead to the future immersive user experience.

Blockchain

The blockchain is a distributed ledger has a key value proposition that promises to reduce business friction and technology friction. This technology provides an alternative trust mode and removes the need for central authorities in arbitrating transactions.

“Current blockchain technologies and concepts are immature, poorly understood and unproven in mission-critical, at-scale business operations. This is particularly so with the complex elements that support more sophisticated scenarios. Despite the challenges, the significant potential for disruption means CIOs and IT leaders should begin evaluating blockchain, even if they don’t aggressively adopt the technologies in the next few years”, explains David Cearley.

Smart Spaces

Smart Spaces is about creating environments, bringing technology and trends together. Advanced digital workplaces, connected factories or smart cities are all included in this trend. In the future, smart spaces will create a more immersive, interactive and automated experience.

Digital Ethics and Privacy

Just because we can do something with AI doesn`t mean that we should. As the world becomes increasingly digital, ethics and privacy is a growing concern for everyone. The ninth trend implies a growing focus on compliance and values in the coming years.

Quantum Computing

Quantum computing is a type of computer technology based on the principles of quantum theory, which explains the nature and behavior of energy and matter on the quantum (atomic and subatomic) level. The parallel execution and exponential scalability of quantum computers mean they excel with problems too complex for a traditional approach. According to Gartner, quantum computing has the potential to solve problems in chemistry, material science and other areas that are impossible to solve today.

How robots impact our economy

The future where robots help humans in daily jobs and their everyday lives is not so far away anymore. We are facing the man and machine times, and robots already work in sectors such as industry, education, healthcare, service and so on. We are living in an amazing burst of innovation and we can already see robots that tidy up a room, deliver items around offices or, more impressive, mind control robotic arm.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has come a long way from just being a buzzword and became a key competitive advantage for most businesses. New breakthroughs in AI are driving robotics even further. Driverless cars, cognitive surgical robotics, assistive exoskeletons are just a very few examples of what`s going on in the robotics industry, the only field that`s growing faster than expected.

According to the International Federation of Robotics, global industrial robot sales doubled over the past five years. “The new World Robotics Report shows that a new record high of 381,000 units was shipped globally in 2017 – an increase of 30 percent compared to the previous year. This means that the annual sales volume of industrial robots increased by 114 percent over the last five years (2013-2017). The sales value increased by 21 percent compared to 2016 to a new peak of US$16.2 billion in 2017”, shows their latest press release.

The developing of extremely complex, independent and revolutionary humanoid robots is evolving faster than ever. The newly developed systems are aimed to bring efficiency, to help in difficult or risky tasks, or solve hazardous problems. Without aiming to cover every industry or sector, AXON Soft is presenting you a couple of breakthroughs that are already changing the world as we know it.

The future is here

Boston Dynamics prides itself with building machines that both break boundaries and work in the real world. And, for sure, they make a worldwide impression. A couple of weeks ago, the company launched a video showing the new features of Atlas, their most agile and advanced humanoid robot. The latest video shows Atlas performing parkour tricks.

“The control software uses the whole body including legs, arms, and torso, to marshal the energy and strength for jumping over the log and leaping up the steps without breaking its pace. (Step height 40 cm.) Atlas uses computer vision to locate itself with respect to visible markers on the approach to hit the terrain accurately”. the video’s description states.

More recently, they posted a video with Spot, a small four-legged robot dancing. The robot that twerks and looks back conquered the Internet with almost 5 million views in three weeks.

Breakthroughs in healthcare

Robots make a great difference in healthcare. They improve patient care, reduce costs and waste, and offer levels of measurability and traceability that no human being could achieve. Healthcare robots are transforming the medical act as we know it. Minimally invasive procedures are taken for granted by most of us, although a couple of years ago they didn`t even exist. But innovation doesn’t stop here. Prosthetics have advanced in recent years. At the beginning of 2018, Johnny Matheny became the first person to live with a mind-controlled robotic arm. Johnny Matheny, who lost his arm to cancer in 2005, is testing the $120-million prosthetic developed by Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab. Through this year, he learned to play the piano with his mind-controlled robotic arm.

Exploring polar regions of the Moon

LUVMI is a small lightweight rover, being designed to explore polar regions of the Moon. An international consortium of 5 partners from science and space industry have come together to design LUVMI – Space Applications Services (Belgium), The Open University (UK), Dynamic Imaging Analytics (UK), Technical University of Munich (Germany) and OHB System AG (Germany).

“LUVMI is a lightweight, low-cost alternative weighing no more than 40kg. It will be able to analyze rock samples faster than a conventional rover and with less contamination”, states on their website.

The system consists of a mobile payload support platform that can carry a number of instruments for the analysis of the lunar pole environment and it will drive into a Permanently Shadowed Region (PSR), believed to hold vast stores of water.

SoftBank robots like Pepper or NAO already conquered the audience with their friendliness and positive attitude. They are being used in all kind of services, from tourism to finance or education and their applications are unlimited.

All barriers are questioned by the limitless possibilities offered by AI. For instance, reinventing traditional footwear with connected sneakers that integrate wearable technology is just one of the kick starters that got our attention.
